Note to My Sister

Sis,

I was actually in Cleveland Saturday. Jim Gallagher turned 40 on the 21st, and his mom invited me up there for the festivities. Later, I took off and got together with David and Jena over in Rocky River for some dinner at the Beechcliff, and went home shortly thereafter. Jena was a little lit, but not too bad. She gets really interesting when she does. It's funny to watch David with her.

Why don't those two just end this charade, and just move in together, or just get married??? Friends... yeah right, they look more like an old married couple than me and Cheryl do.

Speaking of which, Cheryl has been acknowledging that she now understands it's not everybody else, and that it just might be 'her'. She's even 'talked' about getting help. She still hasn't 'gotten' help but at least we are talking about it, which is more than we could ever imagine doing before. As it is said, you can lead a horse to water...

Tom and David are both running cross country on the same team this year. You know that Tom is interested in Miami of Ohio, and has applied there. He has yet to take the SAT, but scored a 26 on the ACT, which put him in the 90 percentile. Can't wait to see his SAT. He is Cross-Country varsity this year. He's worked really hard to get there. Can you believe he's graduating in June?

David is doing well, he's a Freshman this year, and I'm told by many coaches that he is one of the best centerfielders in the area. He'll be playing High School Ball in the Spring, but we don't know if he'll be JV, but there's been some speculation he could be.

Katie...

She has been on and off with her medication all summer, but now that school is starting again, it will be easier to manage. She has been getting better with her grades, slowly but surely. She did quite well at summer school. She got high C's in both science and math. A huge improvement. She is scheduled to have tutoring still. She is too easily influenced by her friends, and Cheryl and I are having some dialog with her about some choices she makes. There are a lot of caveats in raising a teenage girl these days. We find that having her respect takes us a long way, and vice-versa.

So that's what going on, I start school myself this week. I'm officially a Junior in college.

Love,

Rick
