Why I Support George W. Bush
Below is an outstanding historical analysis of War

Obviously, I am a George W. Bush supporter.
Something I have failed to do is outline why I support him. It's not because I
dislike John Kerry, or want to vote against him.
First, let me tell you what I don't like
about George W. Bush.
- He is not the most charismatic politician I've ever
seen. His stammering, and deliverance of his speeches is at times painful.
However, when I see him in conversations, and not scripted speech; he fares
much better in my opinion. So, he's not a cunning linguist. I do miss Ronald Reagan.
However, mere words do not make nations prosperous, or safer; action does.
His record on the issues is what matters.
- While the deficit is not as high as it was
projected to be, and the fact that a lot of it was created in the wake of
9-11 in his attempts to save our financial rears; I have to say that I
really think that 'No Child Left Behind' and his attempts at 'Medicare'
reform where political, and out of step with mainstream conservative
thought. As conservatives we should be pushing to get government out of
these issues because historically government is the problem, not the
solution. Privatization would enable competition, help the economy, and
drive medical costs down.
- I believe He should have had the guts to veto the
McCain/Feingold campaign finance reform bill. I think he was afraid of
losing McCain's support. It's a clear violation of freedom of speech. People
from Moveon.org and the Media Fund should agree with that and they will find
out what a violation of the First Amendment it is when we get within 60 days
of the election. Because they will no longer be allowed to advertise.
- Our borders are wide open. There is not a lot
preventing those who wish to do serious harm to the United States from
entering the country. I'm not opposed to immigration. I am a descendant of
those who came through Ellis Island. I believe this country should be open
to all who wish to benefit from our prosperity, but it should be done
legally. I don't trust someone who has to sneak in. George W. Bush has not
done as much as needs to be done to secure our borders.
- I'm not too big on pie-in-the-sky projects like
going to Mars or back to the moon right now. There are more important
matters at hand.
- Everything else that is negative about him that
I've either read or heard is either not important to me, or it dwells
outside of the realm of truth and fact.
Secondly, why do I think he should serve
another 4 years? I basically have 2 reasons. There a lot of other issues out
there that matter to me, as well as to other people. But right now they are not
important to me because of what happened on 9-11. Our world changed that day.
Many of us want to forget it, and act like it never happened. But it did, and
something like it will happen again unless we are vigilant with our resolve to
keep our economy strong, and to root out the bastards who wish death upon us.
- The economy:
-
As of this writing, the unemployment rate is at 5.5%;
the same as it was for Clinton in July 1996. To put things in perspective;
in 1932 the unemployment rate was between 25-30%. The highest it has been
since that time was during the Reagan administration in 1982 when it
peaked at 10.2%. Reagan made massive tax cuts to help clean up the mess
Jimmy Carter made, and by 1984 the country was well into recovery, much
like we are now for the same reason.
-
What reason?
TAX CUTS!
-
Historically, tax cuts do two things:
-
Stimulate
the economy
-
Increase
Federal revenues.
Therefore...
-
The economy is strong and getting stronger. The
Presidents pro-growth policies have helped drive the economy and move the
recovery forward, putting more money in the pockets of Americas families
and laying a foundation for robust growth and job creation now and for
years to come.
- The economy has grown 4.8% in the past year, as
fast as any year in nearly two decades.
- Productivity grew at the fastest 3-year rate in
more than 50 years.
- Providing bold and active leadership to end
the recession and helping people find work From 2000 to 2003,
Americas economy experienced an unprecedented combination of shocks: the
stock market bubble bursting; an economic recession (that
started during the Clinton Administration I might add); the terrorist attacks
of September 11th and subsequent War on Terror including the war in Iraq;
and the discovery of corporate accounting scandals, years in the making,
that undermined confidence in corporate America. President Bush acted
promptly and aggressively to address these shocks.
- Creating Jobs The President acted
decisively to help create jobs and get Americans back to work. Just one
year after the President signed the Jobs & Growth bill, there is
widespread evidence his policies have worked.
- Raising Americas standard of living
The Presidents economic policies have allowed Americans to weather
the stock market bubble, the recession, the terrorist attacks, and the
corporate scandals, and have resulted in higher incomes and living
standards for American workers.

- The Fight Against
Terrorism
- Enough cannot be said about the strides made in
protecting our homeland. I support the president 100% in his policies.
They are numerous, and I will not list them here, but can be read
HERE
- The presidents strategy is threefold:
- We will
defend the peace by opposing and preventing violence by
terrorists and outlaw regimes.
- We will preserve the peace by
fostering an era of good relations among the worlds great powers.
- And we will extend the peace
by seeking to extend the benefits of freedom and prosperity across the
globe
- In 2003,
coalition forces acted with skill and bravery to liberate the Iraqi people
and remove a grave and gathering danger to America and the world.
- In 2001, with less than a months notice,
American and British forces joined with local anti-Taliban troops in an
assault on the al Qaeda network and the Taliban regime that gave it safe
harbor in Afghanistan.
- In both cases, decisive victories were achieved
by integrating real time intelligence with sophisticated technologies in
cooperation with indigenous forces.
- In his State of the Union Address, President Bush
announced a new initiative to better protect America by continuing to
close the 'seam' between analysis of foreign and domestic intelligence on
terrorism. Elements of the Department of Homeland Security, the FBIs
Counterterrorism Division, the DCIs Counterterrorist Center, and the
Department of Defense have come together to form a Terrorist Threat
Integration Center to fuse and analyze all-source information related to
terrorism.
- This new center is working to merge and analyze
terrorist-related information collected domestically and abroad in order
to form the most comprehensive possible threat picture.
- Since September 11, 2001, our government has been
working together and sharing information like never before. The President
is committed to ensuring that intelligence information from all sources is
shared, integrated, and analyzed seamlessly and then acted upon quickly.
We have liberated 2 countries.
We have yet to be attacked again since 9-11
Several planned attacks have been thwarted
We are WINNING.
John Kerry's Senate voting record does not
suggest that he supports sound economic and policies, and he definitely has
shown poor support of our military throughout his political career. This is why
he has to trumpet his Vietnam Nam experience (as brief as it was) to qualify him
as a strong leader. Even most who support Kerry cannot name reasons why they
support his candidacy other than they just want to get rid of Bush, regardless
of how inept and out of the mainstream the potential replacement may be.
John Kerry has yet to publicly discuss what
he proposes to do regarding the war on terror, but he does have a "secret plan"
that he says he'll reveal after he is elected... Mr. Kerry, if you have to wait
till then to tell our country what you would do instead, you are already
demonstrating poor leadership.
John Kerry has also declared that he will
roll back the tax cuts that have enabled the present economic recovery.
Based on the uncertainties of John Kerry's
platform, and the successes of the Bush administration regarding the economy and
the war on terror, I believe that to switch horses midstream would be a foolish,
and dangerous thing to do. Therefore, I support the re-election of George W.
Bush to the presidency of the United States.
