Well, I finished reading Harry V. I’ve been rather lazy about my journal entries, and I’m sorry; I’ll try to do better. In all honesty, there has been a lot happening. The strange irony is that when I have little to do is when I write the most about my life, and when I’m busy, I have very little to say! I have actually been debating with myself whether or not to continue this D-Land thing because so much has changed with me over the last four months. I’ve been getting very involved with my church, and it was for that reason that I created the spiritual side of the diary. I’ve been keeping a bit of a spiritual journal, and it’s been on pabulum, not computer. I used to be so into debating issues, religion, and what not, and that’s where the whole mr-knowitall concept came from. To be honest I just tired of doing it. It gets very old when you say the same thing over and over to certain people, and they just will not even acknowledge any of the points you make, even to the point of being magnanimous to say that they at least understand, but not agree. Not to mention the amount of time it takes to research my points. With all of the above taken into account; it gets frustrating to have a serious debate turn into a volleyball match of bile rhetoric. I am very much still a conservative, and now very much a servant of Jesus Christ. I know that there are some who desire for me to throw my hat into the arena of ideas more often, (i.e. Nightdragon) but I’m just too tired of the same old arguments shaped into something new. And I doubt I will ever become a liberal/progressive; maybe when Dragon becomes a Yankees fan. Perhaps when an issue comes up that isn’t some reincarnation of something I’ve debated before, I’ll chime in. So, after much thought I have concluded that I’ve been doing this far too long to just quit, and besides I do enjoy writing. So no worries… I’m staying. Baseball season is winding down. We have one more tournament, and we’ve not been doing as well as last year. Plus it’s been hard to get all the games in with all of this rain we’ve been getting. The Tipp City Tournament was totally cancelled this week because the fields are under 6 feet of water. The Great Miami River is just 100 yards from where they are. Cheryl’s birthday was today (she’s 24… again), so yesterday I took the kids out shopping so we could all get her gifts. Of course I got her the 18k gold diamond cross necklace she’s been wanting. She said it was the best b-day she’s ever had. I’m happy. Our relationship is the best it’s been in years. Heh… the fact that it was so bad 2 years ago was why I started this diary (actually res6564). It’s great seeing what God can do if you just let Him. I’ve been spending a lot of time making little improvements on the house, and things are slowing looking better. The carpet we got less than a year ago has already started to show wear and tear. It never ceases to amaze me how much work there is to do. It never stops. Last night the pan that Cheryl cooked dinner in leaked chicken grease all over oven and the floor. It was David’s chore last night to clean the floor. I was busy installing a storm door on the back of the house. When I walked though the kitchen, the first thing I noticed was the mess was gone, but the cats suddenly loved the taste of the floor; they were all sitting around licking it. And when I stepped on the floor I nearly slipped. I later found out he simply took dry paper towels and spread it all over the place. I had to explain/demonstrate how to clean up greasy messes to him. While I was in the process of filling a mop bucket with some extremely hot water, he asks me, “Dad, can you use a vacuum cleaner to clean up chicken grease?” I told him. “No, that wouldn’t be a good idea”. He told me he didn’t think so. As I finished up, I noticed one of the Vacuum cleaner attachments was in the sink. Curious, I looked into it, and saw beads of some wet looking substance. Now I was even more curious so I smelled it. IT WAS CHICKEN GREASE!!! Subsequently David and I had a heart to heart talk about the proper use of household appliances. Later, Rick
