Speaking of my old Church; Pastor John Bunney recently retired. He had a collection of sayings that we all heard frequently. I want to publish them here: Grace must precede Truth Jesus did not come to mend the past – he came to end it. The motive of a man’s heart establishes the basis for guidance from God. He who makes God his providence will never be defeated. To hurry God is to find fault with God. God will never leave a surrendered vessel empty. Holiness is not perfection of consummation; it is perfection of condition God does not deal with us in the light of our present failure, but in the light of our potential. Truth divorced from experience must always dwell in the realm of doubt Hope is faith with a song If you build God a house of devotion, He will build you a house of ministry Don’t pull the Bible down to your level of experience – bring your experience up to the level of the Bible Every victory in God in our past is an assurance of victory in the future Sow a thought – Reap an act Man’s opportunity is created by God’s attitude toward man, and God’s opportunity is created is created by man’s attitude toward God – except God cannot be unfaithful. My prayer releases God’s will from heaven, which only happens when I pray. When we enroll in the school of the knowledge of God, our tuition is our obedience. If we stop paying our tuition, we’re out of the school. An “excuse” is the skin of a reason stretched over a lie. Hope is faith that puts no time limits on God The circumstances of life get out of you what’s in you – that you didn’t even know was there. Truth that is not propagated by the people will die with the people. Waiting on God is a lost art in Christendom. I can’t help it if I’m right. Rick
