#2 - Sad news, and some reflection

Please read through This Diary. I was linked to it through Judybean's diary. Please pray for this family. It made me remember a dark time in my own family that I wrote about in my old diary. Here is an [edited] excerpt:

In August of 1988, Cheryl told me she was pregnant again. We didn’t really plan on this happening this soon, but we were happy just the same. At 8 months into the pregnancy we discovered there was something wrong with the child. After a series of tests we found the child had something called “Potter’s Syndrome”. Simply put; it is the absence of kidneys, and there was no chance of survival. During one of the tests her water broke, and she subsequently went into labor. Before we knew it, our second son was born. The doctors immediately put him on life support so that they could do the tests necessary to determine whether or not there was anything they could do. Eventually they came to us and asked us for permission to disconnect our son from his life support. We agreed, knowing there was nothing that could be done. He died in my arms.

That night at home we lay in bed together and cried and prayed. We asked The Lord to fill the gap that was left empty by this tragedy. Within a month, she was pregnant again. In December of 1989 she gave birth to David, another prayer answered.
